This stole has been handwoven in the village of Maheshwar in central India. Maheshwari weaving is a royal Indian craft developed under the patronage of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century.
Shibori is a tie-dye craft from Japan which involves geometric patterns being stitched onto the fabric before it is dyed. It is similar to bandhani.
