    • Maheshwari weaving with shibori

This stole has been handwoven in the village of Maheshwar in central India. Maheshwari weaving is a royal Indian craft developed under the patronage of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century.

Shibori is a tie-dye craft from Japan which involves geometric patterns being stitched onto the fabric before it is dyed. It is similar to bandhani. In recent times, some bandhani artisans in Rajasthan have learnt this skill and given it a uniquely Indian twist! Due to the nature of the craft, shade variations through the fabric will occur adding an interesting design element to the product
